DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY

Digital radiography

The difference of digital radiography with simple radiography is that all digital radiology images offer high resolution, they can be stored electronically in the PACS system, and they are readily available to doctors at any time for reading and comparative assessment, thus minimizing the need to transfer printed films. Diagnostic radiology reports are also stored electronically in the patient’s file.

In this manner, patients receive printouts of images and diagnoses, as well as a digital disc such as a CD/DVD, where the digital images of their examinations are recorded. The digital images of radiology examinations are stored intact in the electronic files of the Department.

Digital imaging advantages:

  • It virtually eliminates any technical error of radiography images as well as the need for frequent repetitions.
  • It reduces the radiation exposure of the patient.
  • It ensures the storing of diagnostic images (they remain unaltered).
  • It offers quick and easy access to diagnostic data from prescribing/treating physicians even remotely, through a secure internet connection.
